Did you know that if you breathe well you are eliminating 70% of bodily toxins through the breath? Or that in Eastern medicine, the lungs harbor and process grief, and that them and the large intestine function are entwined? The breath carries with it vitality, and the lungs distribute it throughout the body.
If there are any glitches in the breathing cycle we can become depleted and stressed out without even knowing fully why. We don’t often look to the breath except in times of duress to help ourselves calm down. But under the surface, the breath is protecting us, and silently regulating how we feel. There is a healthful way to breathe that most of us have no concept of, other than that we think we should take a deep breath at times.
In this class, you will learn what optimal breathing is, and also learn what it isn’t. By becoming aware of your own breathing pattern, you can then incorporate awareness practices to bring it into an optimal state and improve your quality of breath…and life! This class is recommended for beginners to self cultivation practices as well as teachers of them. Much of the material in this class is not often part of teacher trainings and can greatly inform practitioners and teachers of yoga and pranayama.
This class will be held at Namaste Yoga, 2 Franklin Square, Saratoga Springs, NY 12866
